The Lyrans are described, in these beliefs, as a mother civilization: a starting point from which many other humanoid lineages spread throughout the Milky Way originated. They are considered the oldest human civilization in this region of the galaxy and, therefore, direct ancestors of several subsequent races, including the Pleiadians. The original homeland is said to have flourished on planets in the constellation of Lyra, whose brightest star is Vega. Most sources place there, millions of years ago, what they call the “cradle of humanity” in this part of the galaxy. According to the narrative attributed to the Galactic Federation of United Planets, the species Homo sapiens did not evolve from primates on Earth, but originated in Lyra — more precisely on the second planet of the Vega system. Only after an attack by hostile reptilians, about a million years ago, did this population disperse throughout the Milky Way and form new civilizations. With the development of space travel, the Lyrans reportedly explored and colonized nearby systems, such as Vega, Orion, Sirius, and Alpha Centauri. From this expansion, various descendant races were born. The central chapter of the story, however, is the conflict with a reptilian race from the Draco system. The war is said to have destroyed three of their home planets and forced the survivors to flee, founding over a hundred colonies in systems such as the Pleiades, Arcturus, and Procyon. It is in this exodus that, in many accounts, the origin of the Pleiadians lies. Despite this diaspora, the usual image of the Lyrans is that of a progressive civilization, based on understanding, respect, and advancement. Their relationship with humanity is described as benevolent and altruistic: they are said to be on Earth to help humans recognize their own potential and follow a path of good. Their presence is reportedly discreet — in human form or at other levels of density —, with an agenda of spiritual assistance, rather than direct interference or conflict. One of the most cited sources in this collection of accounts is the contactee Billy Meier, to whom the Lyrans allegedly revealed their origins and shared history with humanity. Lyran culture, however, is not uniform. Given the hundreds of thousands of civilizations attributed to this lineage, the picture ranges from tyrannized societies to highly advanced communities on an ethical and spiritual level. Music and dance appear as common traits to all Lyran races; dance, in some accounts, is considered the most striking feature.
